The Moss Collection at Jen's Backyard

My new “Moss Collection” was inspired from the Hummingbird who builds her nest, made of moss, in our backyard every February. Recently, her two tiny twin babies emerged from their pale blue shells and entered our world.

Over the past couple of weeks I have been creating jewelry, made of moss, while watching the babies being fed and cared for by a very hard working mom. To see a hummingbird sit still is amazing, to watch one feed her babies is an honor. Thank you Mother Nature.

I've created an entire line of Moss Jewelry from earrings to bracelets to necklaces to rings. Much more will be added throughout the month of April, so check back often. Visit the unique line at my esty shop in the moss collection section.

Things To Do On Earth Day

April 22 is Earth Day... inspiring awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment.

There are many ways you and your family can participate in Earth Day activities:
  • Attend an Earth Day Event
  • Organize your own Earth Day Event (Clean Up Day, Recycle Day, Fundraiser, Adopt a Park)
  • Join an Earth Day Campaign or Sign a Petition
  • Plant a Tree
  • Organize an Earth Day Block Party in your neighborhood (everyone brings a dish from their garden, share seeds, exchange fruit and veggies and maybe a clean up parade for the kiddos).
  • Have a neighborhood Earth Day Yard Sale (get rid of old stuff without having to throw it away).
  • Donate your old magazines to nursing homes and doctor's offices.

Remember living green is best year round, not just once a year. What will you do for “Earth Day?”

How to Make an Easter Peeps Martini

Peeps Martini...an Adult Easter Basket!
Rim a martini glass with thick simple syrup and then dip into dyed green coconut flakes, then adorn with a little marshmallow peep.
Prepare the glasses ahead of time and put them on a tray decorated with jelly beans and other seasonal delights for a stunning effect.
For the cocktail:
* 1 1/2 ounces Cherry Vodka
* 1/2 ounce Triple Sec
* 3 ounces Half and Half or Milk
* Dash Grenadine
Shake with ice until chilled. Pour into decorated glasses and serve.

Button Rings added to Jen's Backyard on Etsy.com

I wear statement rings all the time, so I thought, "why not make them and pass on the fun?" I created a few pieces and will be adding more. You can check them out at http://etsy.com/shop/jensbackyard

Also, I met my goal of selling 100 pieces on my etsy shop. Be sure to check the new items. Thanks for the business!
