Biking in LA

An estimated 100,000 cyclists and pedestrians hit the streets of Los Angeles on Sunday for CicLAvia's all day event. CicLAvia makes the streets safe for people to walk, skate, play and ride a bike by temporarily shutting down 10 miles of city streets to car traffic.
A group of us rode our bikes from downtown LA into Hollywood and back. The route passes through LA neighborhoods including Little Tokyo, Koreatown, Downtown, the Arts District, Boyle Heights and East Hollywood.

There were activities along the way, music and dance, vendors, shops and restaurants and of course there were plenty of LA's famous Food Trucks. The streets were packed full of bikes, trikes, unicycles, rollerbladers, skateboarders, scooters and runners of all ages.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking in the architecture of the buildings that you normally wouldn't be able to look at when you're driving. There were people dressed in costumes and all types of bikes you've never seen before!

Ciclovías started in Bogotá, Colombia, over thirty years ago as a response to the congestion and pollution of city streets. Now they happen throughout Latin America and the United States.
CicLAvia is what I like to call, “good clean fun.” This was the second time my husband and I attended CicLAvia and it won't be the last. Being the eco-friendly freaks that we are, CicLAvia chalks up to being one of the best outdoor events we've ever attended!

If your city doesn't offer anything like this, make it happen!

It's easy for me to spend an entire afternoon just cruising the wide range of products Etsy has to offer. The beautiful, eye catching photography is amazing and luring!

Currently, Earth Day is all the buzz and Etsy artisans don't disappoint, offering a vast array of eco friendly, recycled, upcycled and repurposed products.

Here are just a few items that I've added to my wish list (click on product title to link directly to item or click on shop name to link directly to each shop):
